Hiring a makeup artist

Planning a wedding is a ton of work. Finding the venue, booking the photographer, searching for the perfect wedding gown…the list goes on and on. One of the greatest challenges many brides face is what do about makeup. Many brides are concerned if they hire a makeup artist, they won’t look like themselves. Perhaps a friend of a friend had their makeup done for their wedding and it was awful. I receive so many inquiries and concerns from brides about beauty and makeup as they prepare for one of the biggest days of their lives.

Here are some basic things to consider when hiring a makeup artist:

1. Products – What type of makeup do they use? Do they use mineral based makeup? (A no-no for HD photography and film)

2. Sterilization – How do they cleanse their brushes? Do they clean their brushes between clients? What type of products do they use to sterilize their makeup?

3. Photos – Do they have photos or videos of their work?

4. Team – Do they have a plan in place in case there is an emergency? Do they overbook weddings? Do you get the same makeup artist for your wedding day as you did at your trial?

5. Experience – What is their level of experience? How many weddings have they done?

These are just some of the things to consider for your wedding day makeup artist. Stay tuned for more!
